Years ago, a friend asked me to speak to her women’s group. She knew I had joined a public speaking club called Toastmasters and had heard one of my speeches.
I told her I had a few 7-10 minutes speeches I had given, but nothing that could take the whole hour! I insisted on being ONE of the speakers, not THE speaker. She persisted, however, “No, you’re THE ONE! Think about it, pray about it and I’m sure you’ll come up with something. I’ve heard you speak. Our women need you!”
I decided that I had this opportunity for a reason, but I needed all the help from above that I could get. In time, what I discovered was that my previous experience had prepared me for this moment. . . to say yes to this opportunity, even though I didn’t know how I would come up with an hour worth of things to say.
As I pondered what this group of women would need from me, I realize that those 3 separate speeches I had prepared actually seemed to be part of a whole! They were like 3 acts in a play. As I worked to seam them together, they turned into an hour long presentation that I call “He Moves Mountains in Me.”
I practiced and prayed and pondered and finally, the day came and that mountain of doubt inside of me was removed.
Response was overwhelmingly positive and I knew as I shared my story of overcoming depression, overcoming doubt and fears, that I was meant for this: speaking! This was the kind of thing that I avoided in the past. It had been so scary and hard for me for many years, but it was now turning into a voice of empowerment for others.
I recorded the live presentation and requests came in to purchase copies of the audio and so I had them produced!
One of my passions has always been connecting with and empowering others and this is just one step into growing it to a bigger scale. . . all because I said yes, and then figured it out.
What I share in this presentation, has already helped hundreds of women and some men, learn how to move their very own mountains from within and I plan to keep sharing this message, along with the many other messages of championing our thoughts and championing our lives as we learn how to connect with ourselves, with our higher power, and with each other. When we connect, we thrive!
Say Yes, Then Figure it Out
